1.1. High Performance Computing Center created to build the information infrastructure of Education, the implementation of the Decree of the President of Ukraine on October 20, 2005 № 1497.2005 "On priorities for implementation of new information technology," Task State Program "Information and Communication Technologies in Education and Science, 2006-2010 "and in pursuance of the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 301-r dated 31 May 2006.
1.2. High Performance Computing Center is a department of the University budget, which determines the main directions, administers and coordination of the collective use of multi-cluster computing platforms, networking and information technology research university and Ukraine as a whole by introducing Grid technologies (Grid Computing) to existing LAN "KPI" and the Ukrainian National research and academic network uranium.
1.3. High Performance Computing Center directly to the Rector of the University and organizes its work in close collaboration with the Coordination Council for Informatization "KPI", with the departments of university department, with the Ukrainian branch of the International Data Center (IDC), the International Centre for the Information Society, with outside organizations and institutions interested in co-operation and services of the Center ..
2. Aims of the Centre
2.1 Creation of an industrial Grid infrastructure in Ukraine with professional service at the National Research and Education Network uranium.
2.2 Implementation of distributed computing ultra high throughput (aggregated real power of 1.4 teraflops, the volume of data to be processed over 1 pentabayt per year), while considerably increasing the efficiency of the existing fleet through the use of computer technology in Grid temporarily free resources.
2.3 Making large-scale monitoring systems, administration, and maintenance of a comprehensive analysis of globally distributed data sources that can support the livelihoods of government agencies, organizations, and corporations.
2.4 Participation in European projects BalticGrid as an associate member, and support of the world's outstanding basic Grid applications, primarily from materials science (GAMESS to study the geometric structure of different materials), Bioinformatics (3-D models of biological macromolecules), physics high energy (modeling LHC experiments).
2.5 Provision separated access to supercomputer resources and scientific data to a wide range of scientists from universities and research institutions of Ukraine, Ukraine in the promotion of software freely available (Open Source Software).
2.6 Inclusion of Ukrainian Grid (UGrid) as a complete component to stvoryuyemoyi now the European GRID-Infrastructure (EGI) and thus the possibility of scientists Ukraine to cooperate in the European Research Area (European Research Area).
2.7 Forming associations users UGrid - infrastructure, organization of education and training of professional interests, including the preparation of training materials, workshops and summer schools, creating and maintaining a website about available resources and pilot applications.
2.8 Creation and support of user groups with scientific interests in promising fields of application (for example, combinatorial problems, three-dimensional modeling of complex nonlinear fields of mathematical modeling of microelectronic-mechanical systems (MEMS), etc.) and give them priority service resource center.
2.9 Taking into account international standards, Grid policies and practices in Europe, cooperation with other European national Grid infrastructure for testing and certification and Support Middleware application development (applications).
